2. Add important information

• Imput medications, diagnoses, allergies, doctors, and other important health information such as patient portal accounts for quick link access, insurance information or notes from a doctors appointment.

3. The App builds a health summary

• The information imputed is organized into a simple format that is easier to understand and set up to share with health care providers in the event of an emergency. Or easily shared with your emergency contact or babysitters.

4. Share with trusted family members, baby sitters, or health professionals and emergency contacts.

• Invite the people who help care for your loved one. This can be done as a view only or editor of the profile.

5. Stay organized

• As medications, doctors, diagnoses, and other information change, CareNest is a central place for keeping the family up to date in real time.

CareNest isn't intended to replace a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or other healthcare professional.

It's designed to help families organize information and communicate better.

Why I Created CareNest

I’m a Critical Care Nurse and Nurse Practitioner by trade. I’ve spent my career caring for people during some of the most critical moments of their lives. I’m also the emergency contact for several friends and family members and have always been the person my family turns to when someone needs help navigating their health.

I thought I had it all figured out.

Until one night in 2025.

I received a call in the middle of the night. My brother had been found down without a pulse. EMS was able to revive him, and he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

When I arrived in the emergency room, the doctors and nurses immediately started asking questions about his health.

What medications does he take?

What is his medical history?

Who are his doctors?

What are his diagnoses?

What are his wishes?

What is his code status?

I realized very quickly that, despite being the person everyone relied on for medical knowledge, I didn't have all the answers when it came to my own brother.

Thankfully, he survived and is doing well today. But that night stayed with me. I couldn't stop thinking about how much faster and better prepared we could have been if his important health information had been organized and readily available.

Then, the following winter, my mom became ill with the flu. What started as the flu turned into significant weight loss, severe anxiety, cognitive changes, and significant memory deficits.

She was 75 years old, and once again, my family turned to me to help figure out what was happening and coordinate her care.

That's when I bought my first “parent calendar.”

I started writing down every medication I could find, symptoms, blood pressure readings, appointments, medication changes, suspected diagnoses, and anything else that might be important. I searched her phone for medical information and took my notes with me to her doctors' appointments.

I used that calendar to keep track of everything and to keep our family informed.

And then there were the times I forgot it.

Thankfully, we were able to get my mom through that difficult period, and she made a full recovery.

But that experience changed the way I thought about family healthcare.

I realized how valuable it would be to have one place where all of that information could live—something that could be updated easily, help with reminders and organization, and be shared with the people who help care for someone you love.

Something that wouldn't depend on one person remembering everything.

Something that could be there when the unexpected happens.

And then there's my dad.

He has a significant cardiac history. Thankfully, I don't need all of his information right now.

But I want to be ready when I do.

That's the reason I'm building CareNest.

Not because I think families need another app.

But because I've experienced firsthand what happens when the information you need isn't readily available.

I've been the daughter trying to piece together my mom's medical history.

I've been the sister sitting in an emergency room trying to answer questions about my brother.

And I've been the person my family depends on to know what to do.

I want CareNest to make that responsibility a little easier for all of us.

Because none of us know when the phone is going to ring.

But when it does, we can be better prepared.
